I think what's going on here is the photo of Ma holding the chimp was placed on the photo of Pa holding the chimp, and then a new photo was taken. The resulting image appears to be a collage. In any case, it's a pretty grim family portrait. Whoever said "Monkey's are funny" never saw this.
