Carl Corley began drawing physique art for beefcake magazines in the 1950s. In the 1960s and 1970s, he wrote twenty-two novels of gay male pulp fiction, producing his own cover art.
In his writing and illustrations Corley provides a nearly unique example of out gay expression in a pre-Stonewall, rural, Southern setting.
