One of the vintage photos from Dr. Hull's fabulous collection appeared on the new American Experience documentary: Mr. Polaroid.

Decades before the iPhone, an inventive device created by Edwin Land allowed everyone to instantly chronicle their lives — the Polaroid camera. This was particularly significant for the incipient gay community. For the first time gay men didn't need their own darkrooms or risk sending negatives of nudes to a lab for development.

Although the photo selected for the program wasn't a full nude and it aired for only a second or two, it was pretty cool to see it included. Thanks go out to Dr. Hull's spirit, and to Dennis Atherton who acquired the image for his collection and agreed to share it.
