According to his obituary in The New York Times: "George Freedley, the late curator of the Theater Collection of the New York Public Library, credited T.C. Jones with inheriting the mantle, or rather feathered boa, of such great impersonators as Julian Eltinge and Bert Savoy."
“Since Savoy's death,” he wrote, “there were no great ones until T. C. Jones arrived on the scene. He combines the gentle satire on feminine beauty which Eltinge had par excellence with the bolder suggestion of roguish vulgarity which made Bert Savoy unforgettable.”
