This sturdy ceramic mug features an example of "trick" or manipulated photography inspired by a Real Photo Postcard c. 1918, (see scan). These three French soliders have survived WW1 somewhat the worse for wear. You could see it as a statement about the carnage of war, but it seems too lighthearted for that.
